Why have a diagnostic assessment
If someone is finding study or day-to-day life significantly harder than expected, and wants to understand why or access the right support, a diagnostic assessment for dyslexia or dyscalculia can help.
An assessment builds a clear picture of a child or adult's cognitive profile, highlighting both their strengths and the areas they find challenging. With this understanding, any support put in place, whether at school, university or work, can be much better targeted and more effective.
People also choose to be assessed to apply for Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) at university, to give employers the evidence needed to put Reasonable Adjustments in place, or simply for personal understanding and clarity around their challenges.
Who we assess
We assess from age 8 onwards, in line with guidelines set by the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC), the governing body for our specialist teacher assessors.
