
Indian multinational Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Water & Effluent Treatment (WET) business has secured orders from the Public Health Engineering Department of Rajasthan, India.
The company will undertake the Rajasthan Rural Water Supply and Fluorosis Mitigation Project – Phase II, Package-1, which includes construction and installation works to improve water supply in the region.
The project’s scope includes the supply and installation of 5,251km of transmission and distribution pipelines, the construction of 38 ground-level reservoirs with an aggregate capacity of 40 megalitres, 20 pump houses, and 132 overhead service reservoirs with an aggregate capacity of 25 megalitres.
This initiative aims to meet the water demand in 285 villages and the towns of Surajgarh and Udaipurwati in Jhunjhunu district.
Additionally, the WET business has won another project for the strengthening and rehabilitation of the water supply system in the Kekri-Sarwar sector in Ajmer district.
This entails the supply and installation of 43km of transmission pipelines, along with associated electromechanical, instrumentation, automation, and supervisory control and data acquisition works. Both projects include a one-year defects liability period and ten years of operations and maintenance.

L&T stated that the repeat orders build on its expertise in executing water infrastructure projects, with the company having completed 24 such projects in Rajasthan alone.
L&T, a $30bn company, is involved in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects, hi-tech manufacturing, and services, with operations spanning multiple geographies.
Last month, L&T’s Buildings & Factories (B&F) vertical secured two orders in India.
India’s Central Public Works Department has awarded an EPC contract for constructing Common Central Secretariat buildings 6 & 7 in New Delhi, and the Government of Andhra Pradesh has entrusted B&F with a design and construction contract for the State Legislative Assembly.
